Thompson Crowley masonry inc, with decades of experience is here to help you with basement leaks in your stone foundation. Stone foundations constructed in Massachusetts from 1600's to early 1930's all used lime mortar for bonding and basement waterproofing.
Lime mortar was made up of processed lime and sand. No Portland cement like modern masonry cement. Over time stone foundation mortar joints become cracked and loose from foundation settling, dry out as the lime properties wash out of the mortar leaving the foundation mortar sandy. Sandy, crumbling, dried out age mortar looses its bond to foundation stones causing cracks and voids. Cracks and voids leads to structural concerns, leaks, possible rodents and overall poor air quality.
At Thompson Crowley we offer expert stone foundation leak repairs, full foundation masonry repairs, lime mortar basement restoration and stone foundation waterproofing.
